Carolyn McColl – President
Carolyn was appointed President of the Meals on Wheels NSW Board in 2024, after years of outstanding leadership and contribution.
Carolyn has been a Meals on Wheels volunteer since 1983 in Pambula Merimbula, NSW. In 1988 she joined the Board of the local Meals on Wheels service and in the 1990’s led the amalgamation of 9 services who became Bega Valley Meals on Wheels Co-operative Ltd. Carolyn is currently the Chairman of the Bega Valley Meals on Wheels Co-operative Ltd Board. She is passionate about supporting the community.
Carolyn’s professional background includes extensive experience as a systems analyst in local government, specialising in finance and IT. She has also worked in the finance industry, performing company field audits, served as CEO of a nursing home, and operated her own bookkeeping business, providing services to various companies.
Tony Toussaint – Treasurer
A Bega resident for 54 years, Tony is a retired building contractor and lifelong volunteer. With over five decades of community service, he brings experience, dedication, and a passion for supporting others to the Bega Meals on Wheels Board.
Gae Rheinberger – Secretary
Born in Bega, Gae trained as a nurse in Sydney, and returned to the Valley. With a background in nursing and training, Gae has volunteered since the 1970s across education, health, and community services, including TAFE, St John Ambulance, and Bega Hospital.
Pat Irving
Born in Bega and has always lived in the Bega Valley. Pat has a general background in hospitality and worked at Bega District Hospital in domestic staff for 23 years in different positions: cook and manager. Pat has volunteered in the community for 40 years.
Irene Edwards
Irene has lived in the Bega Valley for 17 years, actively engaging with the community through four years of volunteer work. Her professional background includes experience as a teacher, an airport car rental manager, and a CFO. Irene is passionate about community service and growth and is dedicated to making a meaningful impact to the local community.
Sue Mitchell
A Bega resident for 75 years, Sue has volunteered since 1992 and worked as a registered nurse. With a strong commitment to community service and supporting the elderly, Sue brings valuable healthcare experience to Meals on Wheels, helping provide nutritious meals and vital social connections to those in need.
Frank Pearce
Frank has dedicated his career to Catholic education, shaping policies, empowering teachers, and championing Indigenous perspectives. Now retired, Frank focuses on volunteering, building communities education, employment and welfare.
Charles Day
Charles moved to the Bega Valley in 1982 to take up a position with the newly amalgamated council as it’s deputy manager. Subsequently he served as Chief Executive Officer for councils in New South Wales, Victoria, Northern Territory and Tasmania. Charles spent the last 11 years of his working life as an Officer of the Supreme Court in Sydney.
In achieving these positions Charles had successfully completed studies in law and public administration/finance. Charles participated in voluntary work for very many years including as Justice of the Peace for 54 years however he regards his favourite as working with Meals on Wheels over the past six years.
Kevin Cox
Kevin has been in the Bega Valley for the past 13 years. He has worked on the East Coast as a farm worker, handyman, and gardener and volunteered for wires, RFS, and aged care and disability services. Kevin has extensively volunteered for Bega Valley Meals on Wheels for the past 10 years.
